GEEIA

I was assigned to the 2873rd GEEIA Squadron from Sept 1960 to Sept 1961. At that time the 2873rd was at Bushy Park AB outside of London, which was Eisenhower's SHAEF Hq. during the Normandy invasion.  The 2873rd had both Inside Plant and Outside Plant personnel. The other major activity for the Bushy Park AB was the dependents London area High School.

In September 1961, GEEIA began winding down at Bushy Park and personnel began PCS to other bases. I was assigned to the 2872nd at Torrejon AB, near Madrid Spain. Others in my Inside Plant group were reassigned to the 2874th GEEIA at Ramstein, Germany, the 2871st at Athens, Greece, and other non-GEEIA communications commands in Europe. European GEEIA Headquarters was Wiesbaden, Germany.

The GEEIA.org site needs to add the 2871st GEEIA to the list.
